Karachi is the capital of Sindh and Pakistan's largest city and principal seaport, on the Arabian Sea north-west of the Indus delta. It is also the resting place of the country's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Mohatta Palace, built in 1927 of yellow Gizri and pink Jodhpur stone, housed the first Foreign Ministry in 1947 and later became the residence of Fatima Jinnah. It reopened as a museum in 1999.

Planning a visit

Getting there: Jinnah International Airport has international and domestic flights, and is the hub for Sindh and the Makran coast.
How long to allow: Two to three days.
Good to know: No permits are needed in the city. November to February is the most comfortable period. The Sindh Tourism Development Corporation runs tours and resorts across the province.
